Do you have experience in working with clients with psychosis and looking for a new challenge?

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Team at the Oxford Health Foundation Trust is looking for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist on a full-time basis (although part time/flexible will be considered).

You will have a Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and will be HCPC registered and BABCP accreditable. Previous experience in working with clients with psychosis and their carers using a CBT framework is essential.

The post holder will work as part of an inclusive, dynamic and highly specialist psychological therapy team serving the clients of the Oxfordshire Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. The role involves delivering NICE-recommended individual cognitive behavioural therapy (CBTp) to clients with psychosis, and family intervention (FI) to clients with psychosis and their carers. Post-graduate training or experience in CBTp and FIp is required, and we are looking to support the post holder to develop their skills in delivering these interventions.

At the core of the role is clinical leadership and the post holder will provide clinical supervision and consultation to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, and will be able to contribute to audit, service development and clinically-relevant research.

Main duties of the job

This role is crucial in ensuring that patients get access to high quality evidence-based psychological treatments within the Oxfordshire Early Intervention in Psychosis Team.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

1. To provide clients referred to the service with a specialist Early Intervention assessment, which includes self-report measures, structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care, in order to decide upon the best service and form of care.
2. To use psychological formulation to plan and implement formal psychological intervention of a client's mental health problems, employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across in-patient, out-patient, community and domiciliary settings. To evaluate progress during therapy using clinician and patient-reported outcome measures.
3. To select and deliver highly specialist evidence-based psychological treatments, monitoring outcome and modifying and adapting interventions, specialising in CBT and FI for psychosis.
4. To communicate information concerning the assessment, formulation, and treatment plans to clients and monitor and evaluate progress during treatment.
5. To act as keyworker for individuals whose needs are primarily for psychological therapy, as required.
6. To provide professional and clinical supervision to junior psychologists, assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists for all aspects of their work.

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with relevant registration

Desirable

• PhD in a clinically relevant area
• BABCP accredited

Skills

Essential

• Experienced CBTp practitioner (achieved or working towards)

Desirable

• Qualified Family Intervention practitioner
• Training and skills in working with ASD, personality disorders, and PTSD

Experience

Essential

• Delivering supervised CBT for psychosis and bipolar disorder
• Multidisciplinary working
• Teaching, training and/or supervision

Desirable

• Experience of working as a psychologist in EIS
• Working with clients with an At Risk Mental State for psychosis
• Experience of facilitating skills-based therapeutic groups
