Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • The successful applicant will be expected to carry out all duties of a Paediatric Infectious Diseases Registrar, with no out of hours activities.
  • To participate in the different academic meetings in the unit.
  • To participate in the regular programme of audits and service improvement.
  • To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.
  • To ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
  • To work in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities policy to eliminate unlawful discrimination in relation to employment and service delivery.
  • To ensure skills are up-to-date and relevant to the role, to follow relevant Trust policies and professional codes and to maintain registration where this is a requirement of the role.
  • To comply with George's Healthcare No Smoking Policies.
  • To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade and the needs of the service.

Qualifications + Training
Essential criteria
  • Full registration with GMC
  • MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Medical Degree
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching Qualifications
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Broad experience in Paediatrics
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Paediatric Infectious Diseases
  • Experience of research projects
Skills
Essential criteria
  • Willingness to contribute to management
  • Be willing to assist in the development audit and of an effective clinical audit programme
  • To be computer literate
Desirable criteria
  • Have taken part in audit
Personal

  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Evidence of good communication skills
  • Evidence of organization and motivation
Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • To have an understanding of the basic principles of clinical governance
Desirable criteria
  • To be committed to building a framework for monitoring and improving clinical quality
