Job SummaryClinical basic 40 hours per week. Inpatient and Day surgery theatre sessions and outpatient clinics, care of inpatients, administrative work, teaching junior staff and medical students, urology middle grade on call.
Urology services, emergency and elective, continue to evolve rapidly. Special interests of the department include: urodynamics/uro-gynaecology, oncology, andrology, endo-urology, Robotic and standard laparoscopic Urology. A comprehensive range of endoscopic and laparoscopic equipment is available, along with 2 dedicated Holmium lasers. We have state of the art MRI-USS fusion workstations (Hitachi and Koelis) as well as LATP and regional saturation template biopsy service. We provide LATP training for the West Midlands. Da Vinci X and 2 Xi robots are shared across one of the most diverse Robotic Surgery Programmes in the UK. As well as Robotic Radical Prostatectomy, Radical cystectomy with intracorporeal diversion and radical partial nephrectomy we collaborate with the colorectal and gynaecological oncology teams to provide Robotic exenteration.
Main Duties of the JobTeachingThe post holder will contribute to tutorials, lectures and teaching ward rounds for medical and nursing students. The robotic training programme follows the modular Proficiency based Progression model from the ORSI Academy. Mr Omer is accredited for PBP training by KU Leuven.

ResearchThe Trust hosts the eXcision study which is validating the use of high definition intra-operative specimen PET CT for margin assessment in radical prostatectomy. The unit recruits well to large Uro-Oncology trials (currently lead recruiter to Add-Aspirin Trial Internationally) as well as active collaborations across a wide number of departments in the University including Adipokines in prostate cancer (Prof HS Randeva, Department of Molecular Endocrinology), eNoses and cancer detection (Prof JA Covington, Department of Engineering), Vitamin D in bladder cancer (Dr D Zehnder/Dr R Bland), MRI-TRUS fusion (Professor CE Hutchinson, Department of Clinical Imaging and Radiology Physics), AI in digital pathology and radiology (Prof D Snead leads PathLAKE - the UK centre of excellence hosted at UHCW). All members of the department are expected to publish regularly and contribute to trial recruitment. You will be expected to maintain GCP certification for the duration of the post. All members of the unit have protected time for audit and research.

Job ResponsibilitiesJunior doctors will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances, agreed where practicable, with his colleagues, both senior and junior. While juniors accept that they will assist, additional commitments arising are exceptional and the junior will not be required to undertake such work for prolonged periods on a regular basis. The post holder will take responsibility for improving and complying with infection control practices.

- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: 1) That applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or 2) have achieved the following scores in the IELTS in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Reading 7, and Writing 7.
