SENIOR CLINICAL FELLOW IN STROKE (ST3 + LEVEL)

North Bristol NHS Trust is looking to appoint Senior Clinical Fellows at ST3 level or above in Stroke for 12 months. Positions commencing Feb/March 2025.

For those who have completed CT/IM level medical training and gained or nearly completed MRCP, these posts will provide registrar level experience and training in stroke and hence be a springboard for NTN applications in neurology or other specialties where experience in neurology or stroke play a significant part.

Salary: £51,017 + enhancements for on call

Interview date: 11 December 2024 (will be held remotely on Teams).

Main Duties of the Job

The roles will be leading on acute admissions, thrombolysis and thrombectomy, HASU/ASU ward rounds at North Bristol NHS Trust. In addition, the post holder will be supporting the delivery of TIA Clinics at the Bristol Royal Infirmary Site. The Senior Clinical Fellows also have the opportunity to undergo training and development, valued as a core part of the Stroke team.

The Department of Stroke and Neurology at Southmead has a national and international reputation for excellent neurological care and research and is part of a large regional neuroscience centre. We provide specialist neurological and stroke care to patients from Bristol and throughout the South West peninsula and South Wales. In addition to acute stroke and general neurology services, the department provides high-level sub-speciality care in areas including Multiple Sclerosis and Neuro-inflammatory disorders, Peripheral Nerve Disease, Neuro-ophthalmology, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Cognitive disorders, Neuromuscular diseases, and neurovascular disorders.

Basic Qualification
Essential

1. MB BS (or equivalent)
2. GMC registration
3. ALS up to date

Desirable

1. MRCP

Experience
Essential

1. Completed pre-registration year (or equivalent outside UK).
2. Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems & practices (or equivalent).
3. Minimum of 2 years experience as SHO (or equivalent).

Desirable

1. 4 months experience as SHO in acute medicine/ elderly care/ neurology/stroke

1. Competent in history taking and examination skills.

Desirable

1. Thrombolysis experience

Communication / Personal Skills

1. Able to communicate effectively with patients and their relatives.
2. Able to establish good working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
