We are looking for three flexible, hard working and dedicated trainees to undertake this high profile role as a Senior Robotic Fellow in Urology.
You will have good core skills in Urology and will be keen to develop skills in Robotic surgical techniques working alongside and assisting the Consultant Surgeons who operate robotically.
You will, together with Consultant Urologists, be responsible for the provision of urology services and undertake surgical procedures within the dedicated urological operating theatres at Guy's Hospital.
The fellow can expect to spend up to 50% of time (6 sessions per week) directly involved in robotic radical prostatectomy, cystectomy or renal surgery. 20% of time (2 sessions) dedicated to a specialist cancer clinic and a general urology clinic as well as being part of a 1/13 SPR On Call rota.
There are daily ward rounds prior to theatre sessions.

The department offers comprehensive care for the whole spectrum of Urology services and is split into 5 sub groups:
Guy's Urology Centre is a large, dynamic and innovative urology department which has, as its primary ethos, improvement in patient care.
For a number of years we have run a successful fellowship programme, preparing surgeons for independent practice in the UK or abroad.

There will also be exposure to robotic adrenalectomy, nephron-ureterectomy, RPLND and reconstructive procedures such as pyeloplasty.
The ultimate aim of the robotic fellowship is independent practice at a high level of proficiency in robotic urological surgery, particularly radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and robotic nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy, and robotic/open radical cystectomy. There will be cross cover across jobs allowing exposure to both sides.
The clinical work will be broken down into session with 50% of time spent in surgery. Patient contact which includes daily ward rounds prior to theatre sessions and weekly urology oncology and general clinics will equate to 20% of the time. Teaching and performing admin duties will equate to about 10%.
Research: Research projects will be undertaken and will be closely monitored by Consultants via monthly departmental audit meetings and weekly tutorial sessions.
Monthly academic meetings will allow close assessment and progress and presentations at National and International Urology Meetings. Research activities will be carried out during the working week and with some evenings and occasional weekends are required.
