Job description

Job summary

This three-month senior clinical fellow post in HIV medicine is available from 27th May 2025 and is based at the Royal Free Hospital site in Hampstead, London NW3 2QG.

The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic and welcoming team of trainees and consultants in HIV medicine. Duties will include, but not be limited to, admission and care of HIV inpatients and review of patients in the Ian Charleson Day Centre, our outpatient HIV unit. The postholder will work in the capacity of Registrar. They will also participate in the ID on-call rota.

Training in infection is provided and there are a number of weekly joint educational meetings with the departments of HIV, Microbiology, Virology and Infectious Diseases.

  • Evidence of experience in a range of acute medical specialties, with experience of managing patients on unselected medical take, during core training or equivalent
  • Experience at CT/ST 1/2-level of managing patients with HIV

  • Competence at core completion level in the management of medical emergencies, in-patients and outpatients
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • Proficiency in a range of medical procedures (as defined by the core curriculum) as an indication of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate
