Senior Clinical Fellow in Dermatology (Skin Tumour)

Starting Salary - £61,825.00 per annum excl LZ

Full Time - 40 hours per week

Fixed Term - 12 months only (commencing August 2025)

Main duties of the job

This post has been created to offer bespoke specialist training in Dermato-Oncology diagnosis and management. The post is designed to offer experience managing patients with complex/advanced melanoma and Lymphoma skin cancer. It will also allow successful candidates to maintain exposure to general dermatology, general skin lesion clinics, have a dedicated biopsy list and the opportunity to be involved in research. You will be part of a large, consultant-led multi-disciplinary team. This post is aimed at candidates seeking further experience managing patients with skin cancer - both simple and complex. Although there is a weekly surgical list to maintain and develop your surgical skills, it is not a surgical fellowship.

Job responsibilities
  1. To receive subspecialty training and further development in Dermato oncology
  2. To deliver clinical and other service activities in order to provide a high standard of care for patients with Skin Cancer
  3. To contribute to clinical research activities of St. Johns Institute of Dermatology
  4. The postholder will, together with colleagues, contribute to the provision of dermatology and cutaneous oncology services to the Guys and St. Thomas Hospital Trust as follows:
  5. To be an active member of the multidisciplinary skin tumour team delivering care to patients with skin cancer as part of the extensive tertiary referral service
  6. Outpatient clinics (melanoma, lymphoma, Graft versus host disease, skin cancer screening and general dermatology)
  7. To contribute to the required medical support for patient requiring complex therapies (including photopheresis and chemotherapy)
  8. To provide continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge
Person Specification
Qualifications/training
  • Full GMC Registration and hold a license to practice
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
  • Post CCST
Clinical experience
  • Comprehensive clinical experience in Dermatology and its subspecialties
  • Broad based general professional training in general medicine
Research
  • Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research
  • Evidence of original research
Teaching/Management
  • Experience of undergraduate teaching and post graduate training
  • Evidence of understanding of the role of clinical management
  • Evidence of leadership in the development of clinical services
  • Teaching qualification
Other
  • Evidence of understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council
  • Evidence of contribution to effective clinical audit and clinical risk management
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
