Senior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthetics

Exciting opportunities for trainees in Anaesthesia to do something different: Senior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia.

We will consider applicants seeking to work less-than-full-time. The post would suit an individual seeking Out of Programme for Experience (OOPE). The post will include the provision of out-of-hours Anaesthetic services at Kings Mill Hospital under the supervision of Consultants in Anaesthetics.

You will have a named educational supervisor. 25% of time will be for supporting non-clinical activity e.g. research, training, education, administration, project work, meetings, etc. 75% will be clinical, including on-call commitment. In addition, you will have 10 days of study leave allowance and a study budget.

Participate in the provision of an emergency Anaesthetic service and take part in the on-call rota.

This includes:

1. Resuscitation, stabilisation and intubation of critically unwell patients outside of the operating theatre environment.
2. Assessing critically unwell patients referred for Critical Care admission in the Emergency Department and wards.
3. Transfer level 2/3 patients safely (intra and inter-hospital).
4. Participate in the educational and clinical governance within the department.
5. Participate in continuing professional development activities in order to maintain knowledge and skill.
6. Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMC’s guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’.
7. Provision of a service to Sherwood Forest Hospitals, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
8. Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
9. Responsibilities for carrying out teaching duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
