Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client is an award-winning Trust committed to building on an already high level of patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and public confidence. A quarter of a million people are served by the Trust, which employs nearly 5,000 staff and aims to deliver the best quality and safest care for the community. The Trust offers a full range of district hospital services together with specialist cancer and surgical services in conjunction with neighboring teaching hospitals. They have achieved multiple accolades, including being among the top 10 hospitals in the country for hip, knee, and joint replacement outcomes, and Stroke services that regularly achieve high ratings in the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) scores.

This Emergency Department presents an amazing opportunity for the right person, joining an award-winning team. This includes an intense and fully supported education and training program with generous provision for study leave with full funding. The department is a 24/7 designated Trauma Unit dealing with the full spectrum from critical illness to major trauma and care for the ambulatory stream for a population of 225,000. Clinical supervision, competency assessment, and education are part of the package; each doctor will have an Educational Supervisor, and this post is compliant with RCEM 2021 guidance on Education Development Time (EDT).

The successful appointee will join a department comprising seven Consultants, one Associate Specialist, two Specialty Registrars, nine rotating Clinical Fellows, one ACCS, two STGP2, four ST1GP, three F2, and two F1. The appointee will undertake various responsibilities, including:

  1. Sharing responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
  2. Participating in the under- and post-graduate medical teaching program.
  3. Participation in the rota appropriate to the department and level of training.
  4. Assisting with clinical governance and audit duties.
