Job description

The Role

This role will develop and lead on service implementation of annual physical health checks for all people with Learning Disabilities in Lanarkshire.

Additional Information Specific to the Role

The post holder will lead on the Scottish Governments guidance in May 2022 that an annual health check is offered to:

  1. those aged 16 and over who are known by the board to have a learning disability; and
  2. those aged 16 and over who identify themselves as having a learning disability (whether or not that learning disability has been formally diagnosed and regardless of whether its mild, moderate sever or profound).

Annual health checks must be offered to everyone who is eligible.

What we'll need you to bring
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
  • Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have
  • Working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Masters qualification in relevant area of Learning Disability Nursing
  • Completion of mentorship training
  • Study days / course / post graduate qualification in relevant clinical field
  • Willing to undertake training relevant to this post

This role will be based in Learning Disability Service department within Kirklands - NHSL Headquarters.

The working pattern for this role: Mon-Frid 9-5pm
