Job description

Senior Buyer

Location: Worcester (fully office based) with visits to various UK sites and occasional overseas travel
Salary: Competitive, plus excellent benefits

Reporting directly to the Managing Director the Senior Buyer will be at the forefront of managing the procurement processes across a variety of projects. You'll be responsible for liaising with suppliers, ensuring on-time and on-budget deliveries, and driving supplier performance to meet stringent requirements.

You will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the success of critical projects, all while working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the purchasing requirements for the groups projects, ensuring suppliers meet high standards of quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Manage supplier relationships proactively, introducing new suppliers where needed and resolving any performance barriers.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, to ensure seamless integration with subcontractors.
  • Take immediate action on critical project purchasing requirements to ensure zero disruption to project timelines.
  • Minimise financial and legal risks by carefully managing contracts and supplier performance.

What We're Looking For:

  • A highly organised, detail-oriented individual with at least 5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role within an engineering or defence sector environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Experience working with military standards and compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication, electro-mechanic assembly, and general engineering processes is highly desirable.
  • CIPS qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
  • A valid driving licence and flexibility to travel when required.
