Senior Buyer

Here at Microlise, we have an exciting, brand-new opportunity for a Senior Buyer! Working as a key member of the Procurement function, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Procurement strategies for a range of categories, with a strategic focus on in-directs, and creating synergies in acquisitions supporting the business to achieve our long-term goals. You will maintain relationships and manage existing suppliers, while also sourcing new suppliers and working with the Head of Procurement to manage spend.

What you will be doing:

1. Support the implementation of a category procurement structure
2. Develop and implement Procurement strategies for the relevant categories
3. Identification, development, and delivery of cost savings initiatives
4. Become embedded in stakeholder areas to offer commercial support
5. Manage stakeholder requests to improve value for money
6. Negotiate contracts for renewals and new services
7. Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to improve supplier performance
8. Develop strong internal relationships and manage business needs
9. Stay informed on market trends to implement strategies around optimizing spend and overall value for money
10. Mentor and share experience with other team members

What we’re looking for:

1. Demonstrable experience within a Senior / Strategic Buyer role with strong knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and supplier management
2. CIPS qualified/part qualified or willing to work towards this
3. Able to interact with senior leaders to promote the benefits of procurement involvement
4. Good working knowledge of IT packages including Microsoft and ERP systems; experience of IFS would be an advantage
5. Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders
6. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
7. Self-starter who can work independently within the team structure and make justified decisions
8. Confident outlook and a positive attitude to deliver departmental targets
9. Able to deputize for the procurement manager if required
10. Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
