Senior Buyer
Here at Microlise, we have an exciting, brand-new opportunity for a Senior Buyer! Working as a key member of the Procurement function, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Procurement strategies for a range of categories, with a strategic focus on in-directs, and creating synergies in acquisitions supporting the business to achieve our long-term goals. You will maintain relationships and manage existing suppliers, while also sourcing new suppliers and working with the Head of Procurement to manage spend.
What you will be doing:
- Support the implementation of a category procurement structure
- Develop and implement Procurement strategies for the relevant categories
- Identification, development, and delivery of cost savings initiatives
- Become embedded in stakeholder areas to offer commercial support
- Manage stakeholder requests to improve value for money
- Negotiate contracts for renewals and new services
- Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to improve supplier performance
- Develop strong internal relationships and manage business needs
- Stay informed on market trends to implement strategies around optimizing spend and overall value for money
- Mentor and share experience with other team members
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrable experience within a Senior / Strategic Buyer role with strong knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and supplier management
- CIPS qualified/part qualified or willing to work towards this
- Able to interact with senior leaders to promote the benefits of procurement involvement
- Good working knowledge of IT packages including Microsoft and ERP systems; experience of IFS would be an advantage
- Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Self-starter who can work independently within the team structure and make justified decisions
- Confident outlook and a positive attitude to deliver departmental targets
- Able to deputize for the procurement manager if required
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
