Here at Microlise, we have an exciting, brand-new opportunity for a Senior Buyer for you! Working as a key member of the Procurement function, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Procurement strategies for a range of categories, with a strategic focus on in-directs, and creating synergies in acquisitions supporting the business to achieve our long-term goals. Whilst maintaining relationships and managing existing suppliers, you will be responsible for sourcing new suppliers, alongside working with the Head of Procurement to manage spend.

What you will be doing:

1. Support the implementation of a category procurement structure
2. Develop and implement Procurement strategies for the relevant categories
3. Identification, develop and delivery of cost savings initiatives
4. Become embedded in stakeholder areas to offer commercial support
5. Manage stakeholder requests to improve value for money
6. Negotiate contracts both for renewals and new services
7. Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to improve supplier performance
8. Develop strong internal relationships and manage business needs
9. Stay informed on market trends to be able to implement strategies around optimising spend and overall value for money
10. Mentoring, development and sharing of experience with other team members

What we’re looking for:

1. Demonstrable experience within a Senior / Strategic Buyer role with strong working knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing and supplier management
2. CIPS qualified/part qualified or willing to work towards this
3. Able to interact with senior leaders to promote the benefit of procurement involvement
4. Good working knowledge of IT packages including Microsoft and EPR systems. Experience of IFS would be an advantage
5. Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders
6. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
7. Self-starter who can work independently within the team structure and to make justified decisions
8. Confident outlook and a positive attitude to deliver departmental targets
9. Able to deputise for the procurement manager if required
10. Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
