An established healthcare provider in the North East of England is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist to join their innovative Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service. The Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Band 7) working across all three of our laboratory sites.
The department has state of the art equipment and technology and prides itself on being forward thinking and innovative. It also has a proven track record in staff training/development and the successful candidate must be equally committed to promotion of continuous development and quality improvement. We currently hold full UKAS accreditation status.
The post involves working in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion as part of the senior team. The department is looking for an individual who has knowledge in both areas but a particular passion for Blood Transfusion Science. Experience of quality management/audit and training would also be advantageous.
Full participation in the relevant Department's extended working day and the out of hours service is a mandatory requirement of all posts.
In this role you will be part of a team of senior biomedical scientists and technical managers who manage and co-ordinate the day to day technical activities of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratories.
You will have developed knowledge, experience and competency in specialised diagnostic techniques in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion and you must be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist. This is an interesting and challenging role working in a dynamic environment and will suit individuals who are able to use their initiative to support a high quality service.
Based in the North East of England close to the historic and cultural cities of Newcastle and Durham, we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.

The Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service has laboratories at all 3 sites with the Pathology Centre laboratory being sited at Gateshead and acute laboratories at both Sunderland and South Tyneside.
