Job Profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology team. As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will support the Chief BMS in providing an efficient and effective service and will work alongside Blood Sciences team members and leaders to cultivate and maintain a culture in which staff are continuously improving to deliver a high quality, efficient and effective service.

• Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.

• Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, shifts between 08:00 - 20:00 hrs Mon - Friday in line with the departmental roster (to participate in Saturday rota as required).

• Salary: £52,797 - £61,466. Inclusive per annum depended on skills and experience.

Key Duties

• Supervise in the sections appropriate and carry out as well as manage the technical and scientific tasks within the team.
• Oversee and support equipment maintenance and development of the Quality, Learning and Health and safety Management Systems within designated work area.
• Carry out / supervise technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the direction of the Chief Biomedical Scientist or Consultant.
• Work alongside Blood Sciences team members and leaders to cultivate and maintain a culture in which staff are continuously improving to deliver a high quality, efficient and effective service.

Skills & Experience

• HCPC post-registration Blood Sciences laboratory experience.
• Experience of UKAS requirements.
• Comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of Haematology.
• Good understanding of quality management systems and ISO standards.
• Previous experience in Haematology of at least 5 years.
• Blood Film morphology and Parasitology experience.
