Job description

Senior Backend Engineer (Kotlin, API, AWS) – Software Solution – Europe/Remote
Day rate: £450 – £550 (inside IR35)
Duration: 6 months
Start: ASAP

My new client is looking for a contract Senior Backend Engineer with Kotlin and API experience.
Project Specification: Contribute to the design and build of a range of API solutions. This includes contribution to the support of data ingestion through a range of sources.

Key Skills/Experience:
  1. Kotlin (Java acceptable)
  2. PostgreSQL
  3. AWS
  4. Terraform
  5. Docker
Requirements:
  1. Experience delivering technical development and design
  2. Practical experience of delivering in a client focused, agile environment
  3. Experience mentoring junior developers in an ad-hoc way
  4. Empathy and people skills
  5. Good understanding of security and performance considerations
  6. Understanding of architectural and design patterns
  7. General familiarity with a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
  8. Excellent analytical and multitasking skills
  9. Excellent collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and build backend features using Kotlin
  2. Supporting component design, development and maintenance, taking personal responsibility for technical quality standards within the project team
  3. Assisting with defining structured practices, particularly in the areas of source code management, execution and deployment
  4. Designing and supporting data storage solutions
  5. Optimising performance in applications for maximum speed and scalability
  6. Using appropriate tools to maintain version control and build processes
  7. Gathering feedback and building solutions to mitigate potential problems
  8. Assisting with the analysis of client requirements
  9. Working with, and supporting, the delivery architect (team lead) in project execution to achieve timely delivery
