Senior Auditor

Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in West Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced Senior Auditor to join their team and play a crucial role in their financial operations.

Position: Senior Auditor
Rate: Negotiable (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Contract Duration: Temporary (May 2025) with Possible Extension

Purpose:

• Performing and reporting on systems, governance and financial audits as allocated by the Audit Manager. Where appropriate, in the absence of the Audit Manager, to assist in the management of the audit service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake detailed examination of systems and transactions in order to:

• Ensure financial probity;
• Improve the standard of control and provision of information for management;
• Identify areas where efficiency savings could be achieved;
• Ensure that Council policies are being complied with;
• Evaluate controls and facilitate their development and maintenance throughout the Authority;
• Prepare reports, findings and recommendations to clients, which could be internal or external to the Council at all levels of the organisation, including heads of service.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year experience within a Senior Auditor role or equivalent.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• CCAB qualified Accountant or AAT qualification, or a recognised auditing qualification, or a university honours degree.
