The department
The international private client team is entering its 5th full financial year at Birketts and the team has seen significant growth since its inception. We currently have 7 qualified lawyers, a team secretary and trainee solicitor in the team. The team members are based in our London, Bristol and Cambridge offices.

The team forms part of the wider private client advisory team which includes over 60 lawyers and 11 partners who specialise in domestic private client work. The private client team also includes a nationally renowned private wealth disputes team and a large tax and trusts compliance team.

We have the strength and depth of expertise to ensure we deliver the expected service in respect of technical quality, practical approach and timeliness of advice. We act as trusted advisers to individuals, families, trustees, family or owner-run businesses and trust companies both in the UK and internationally. We place particular priority on continuity and fostering close long-term relationships with contacts and clients in order to provide practical advice and commercial solutions on a very wide variety of tax, trust and estate planning situations that arise.

Purpose of job

To play a role in the continued growth of the team, to assist the team leader with management of the team in London and to advise on UK tax for international clients and cross border succession matters.

The candidate

We are seeking a Senior Associate / Legal Director or Partner with a minimum of 8 years PQE who ideally has gained experience within a national or City firm. You will have management experience, with the technical ability to run and manage your own full caseload of files from initial instruction through to post completion.

You will have an aptitude for business development in order to help the team with continued growth, and have a strong referrer network in London and overseas.
