Job Description

The Infrastructure Financing team finances, through senior, unitranche or mezzanine debt, major infrastructure projects around the world primarily in Canada, the United States and Europe. Our investments cover several sectors such as digital infrastructure, transportation, social infrastructure and renewable energy. The team leverages a wide variety of knowledge and expertise to create long-term value.

The successful candidate will actively support the team in achieving its investment objectives by carrying out the various steps involved in the financial analysis and investment process of infrastructure debt opportunities. The successful candidate will also play an active role in the careful monitoring of projects, contributing to the selection and execution of CDPQ’s investment opportunities, helping to improve portfolio performance and promoting collaboration and teamwork.

Transactional expertise in infrastructure investments is a priority for this position.

What you will do
  • Actively support the investment activities of the infrastructure financing team, conduct research and fundamental analysis supporting the origination and execution of infrastructure debt investment opportunities in Europe.
  • Build and navigate financial models related to investment opportunities and adapt as needed to reflect certain scenarios and sensitivities.
  • Review and analyze third party due diligence reports (legal, technical, commercial, financial, etc.).
  • Prepare investment committee papers and participate in the presentation of investment opportunities to internal decision-making committees.
  • Actively participate in portfolio management activities, monitor quarterly and annual financial results of portfolio investments and produce internal reports related thereto.
  • Participate in the development of junior team members under the guidance of the Senior Directors.

What you bring
  • Between 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in fundamental credit analysis, with considerable time focusing on infrastructure transactions in Europe.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in performing complex financial modelling analysis in Excel.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, ability to creatively solve problems and adaptability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a professional and well-cared attitude.
  • Experience in analyzing complex capital structures is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration.
  • Proficiency in software programs and databases used in the financial market (Office suite, Bloomberg, Capital IQ).
  • English and French fluency, both written and spoken.
