We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic engineering technician to join our team of clinical technologists in Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS), part of Medical Physics and Engineering sited in the Oncology Clinical Service Unit at Bexley Wing, St. James's University Hospital, Leeds.
You will work collaboratively to assist our engineering teams in providing specialist medical engineering services to support the clinical radiotherapy service and wider organisation, whilst following an engineering technologist training programme.
The post holder will spend time in each of the specialist teams in RTS to learn and develop skills in electronics, computing, and mechanical engineering. They will support the clinical radiotherapy service through the repair and maintenance of cancer treatment and clinical computing systems as well as building the knowledge and skills to support the design and development of devices to improve patient care and staff experience throughout the hospital.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, good team working skills, the ability to use their own initiative, and engineering proficiency.
Applications are also invited from candidates who are within 12 months of obtaining a Level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science; they may be appointed to a lower grade until those qualifications are achieved.

The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of engineers, clinical technologists, therapy radiographers, and medical physicists, as well as engaging and collaborating with patients and clinicians on projects aimed at enhancing clinical services.
Radiotherapy Technology Services (RTS) is a group within the Radiotherapy Physics section of the Department of Medical Physics and Engineering at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. RTS staff collaborate with clinical and scientific users of radiotherapy equipment to provide equipment management and related technical services.
The four teams in RTS; Clinical Computing, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Services, collaborate to carry out activity in multidisciplinary workgroups.
