HARRIS MCCORMACK ARCHITECTS IS SEEKING A SENIOR ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST TO JOIN ITS CREATIVE TEAM IN WANSFORD, CAMBRIDGESHIRE

HMA is a forward-thinking, award-winning chartered practice, searching for a creative, enthusiastic Senior Technologist to join its highly collaborative and creative studio based in Wansford, south of Stamford.

We are a continually expanding practice with an opportunity for a Senior Technologist to join and help grow our local and national reputation. The role will be primarily working in the high-end private residential sector, extensively on contemporary AND conservation projects. Working in a modern open plan studio within an iconic Art Deco landmark building on the A1, called Archaus, we have private parking and excellent local facilities.

We have high expectations of our new recruit: as an integral part of the design team the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high degree of knowledge and experience in key areas of the design process, including project inception, project planning, and contract management.

They will also demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on information when needed. We are looking for someone with the right positive attitude to become a key member of our dedicated team of professionals and help drive the Practice forward.

Job description

  • Understand a client brief.
  • Arrive at a suitable design solution in conjunction with other team members.
  • Produce accurate and detailed construction drawings to current Building Regulations standard.
  • Progress details through approval process.
  • Produce detailed works instructions, material specifications and schedules of work.
  • Record and manage drawing registers.
  • Liaise with installation teams, sub-contract suppliers, clients and suppliers.

Key skills

  • Demonstrate good time management and self-organisation. Maintain appropriate effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure.
  • Understand technical and professional aspects of work and continually maintain technical knowledge. Relevant qualification in HNC, HND or degree in Architectural Technology. 5+ years within the industry. Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations & Standards in the house building sector.
  • On site experience. Computer literate – essential experience of AutoCAD or ArchiCAD. The ability to work with minimal supervision on construction drawings/building regulations requirements. Good communication skills and knowledge of products. High level of accuracy and administrative efficiency. Working knowledge of MS Office. A positive attitude and good sense of humour. Driving license and transport essential.
