About the Company

About the Role

As a Senior Architect, your function will be to govern and maintain the overall technical architecture solution for the force; ensuring that all work undertaken adheres to agreed standards, design principles and architecture methodology. Reporting into the DDaT Manager and Lead Architect, you will be responsible for understanding the current and future requirements for the force; creating roadmaps, setting strategy and as a result identify opportunities for leveraging information and digital technology. You will be responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure, software, security and service innovations align with an underpinning roadmap. You will be confident in providing effective solution designs and maintain suitable documentation that fully describes the architecture within the force.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the detailed software and supporting infrastructure design aspects of solutions;
  2. Fully contribute to any impact assessment process to provide SME input on proposed initiatives, offering high level cost estimates for implementation;
  3. Define and maintain documentation that articulates the current state software portfolio and interfaces across the force;
  4. Review new or changed legislation and its impact on adopted force technology standards;
  5. Use architecture to guide and align programme solutions to improve coherence, re-use and integration providing increased efficiency and business effectiveness;
  6. Ensure that programmes and projects deliver the right technology components, integrated in the right way to provide the intended benefits; giving consideration to the re-use of existing investment in technology or services and ensuring that functionality is not duplicated;
  7. Presentation of architecture outputs to stakeholders at various levels of technical understanding within the force;
  8. Define, manage and govern infrastructure standards and capabilities for the deployment of business, data, and application services;
  9. Engage with stakeholders to define and promote suitable technology solutions;
  10. Actively participate as a member of the Technical Design Authority;
  11. Maintain an awareness of appropriate commercial and technical developments to allow advice to be given on providing future IT & Digital solutions;
  12. Ensure that any proposed design or alteration is well considered and supportable;
  13. Assist with the training/development of Engineers in new skills and responsibilities;

Qualifications

Ideally you will possess working knowledge of ITIL (Intermediate +), TOGAF/COBIT, or an equivalent framework; as well as CITP or FBCS.

Required Skills

You can confidently demonstrate significant experience of designing and architecting technical solutions within a large complex multi-faceted organisation; translating user requirements into solution designs, often in front of large groups.

Skills

Communication is key in this role as you embark on an exciting architectural and stakeholder-led journey through the force; liaising and building strong relationships both across the force and partner working nationally.

Pay range and compensation package

£70,641 + Benefits Permanent, Hybrid. Stafford HQ.
