Due to our ever-increasing client portfolio and the continuing development of our Arboricultural department, we are looking to appoint a Senior Arboricultural Consultant. The position provides the right candidate with an ideal opportunity to be a part of a motivated team who provide technical advice to a diverse range of clients covering projects across all aspects of arboriculture. Our team undertakes Arboricultural surveys and Arboricultural Impact Assessments in accordance with BS5837: Trees in Relation to Design Demolition and Construction – Recommendations. They will also be involved in a wide range of projects covering the preparation of Woodland Management Plans, Veteran Tree Assessments, NHBC Surveys and Tree Hazard Assessments.

Principal responsibilities/key duties:

1. Managing projects throughout their life-cycle prior to and post-planning, preparing fee quotes, managing project budgets and providing advice on arboriculture to clients, stakeholders and project teams;
2. Planning, leading on and conducting arboriculture surveys;
3. Preparing a range of Arboricultural reports - Arboricultural survey plans, Arboricultural reports, Arboricultural impact assessments and Arboricultural method statements and strategies;
4. Designing and implementing appropriate mitigation measures to enhance and protect Arboricultural features;
5. Supporting and mentoring junior staff, sharing your own knowledge and expertise to develop their skills and knowledge and professional judgement;
6. Building and maintaining strong client relationships, as well as with contractors and regulatory bodies;
7. Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, in the planning and delivery of Arboricultural services.

About you

1. A Level 4 or higher qualification in arboriculture or equivalent environmental discipline;
2. A VALID or PTI qualification would be advantageous;
3. At least 5 years working in Arboricultural consultancy, with proven experience in project management, including for medium to large scale and more complex sites, liaising with clients and wider project consultants to deliver outputs efficiently and on time;
4. Demonstrable experience in complex report writing, inclusive but not limited to Arboricultural survey plans, Arboricultural reports, Arboricultural impact assessments and Arboricultural method statements and strategies;
5. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders;
6. An advanced knowledge of Arboriculture in the context of the UK legislative and planning system;
7. Knowledge of GIS/AutoCAD systems would be advantageous;
8. Membership or eligibility to membership of a relevant professional body (eg The Arboricultural Association or Institute of Chartered Foresters);
9. A passion for Arboriculture and sustainable environmental design;
10. A full UK driving licence and access to vehicle.
