On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit a Senior Animal Technician to plan and run in vivo studies, as well as assisting other members of the team with their studies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional, multidisciplinary project team.
Basic Requirements
Experience in working in a designated establishment with laboratory rodents, primarily rats
Experience in oral gavage and basic necropsy
High ethical standards and a keen eye for animal welfare
Can work as part of a team and independently when required
Home Office Licence A-B
Hands-on experience of pre/post/per op
A drive to progress and develop
Duties & Responsibilities
Contribute to the plans and designs of in-vivo studies and provide general technical and scientific advice on specific projects and studies
Manage your own work to ensure agreed targets are met in a timely manner to agreed quality standards, always communicating progress
Modify or improve processes and systems, depending on the purpose of experiments
Liaise with colleagues from other disciplines to discuss project-related matters, share experiences and report progress
Develop your own level of competency by reading articles, collaborating with peer scientists or through contacts by other internal groups
Search for information which may improve research methodology and procedures
Ensure work is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
Work flexibly across different areas and participate in the provision of weekend and out of hours support
Weekends will be on a rota of 1 in 3
