The Office of The Government Chemist specifically resolves technical disputes between businesses and enforcement authorities mainly in the food and feed sector, provides expert advice for the development of legislation, standards and policy, and conducts measurement research to ensure evidence-based deployment across government, industry, academia and other organisations.
In regards to the location of the role, you will initially be based at the Teddington site. However, the Company is planning to permanently relocate its National Laboratories, Teddington operations to The Priestley Centre, Surrey Research Park, Guildford around Spring 2025. Therefore, please consider this when applying for this role.
Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Analytical Chemist to join our team!
The role is to support undertaking of chemical testing studies and method development and validation within the Office of The Government Chemist. The individual will support the Team Leader to maintain the standards encouraged from the Government Chemist function, through participation in proficiency testing schemes, continuous improvement projects and an understanding of customer requirements.
The successful candidate will be a well-organised, self-motivated worker with a high degree of tenacity for solving technical problems and carry out basic instrumental trouble shooting. You'll be a consummate professional, positive role model, good communicator, a mentor and a prospective leader, good attention to detail and keep meticulous records of analytical work. You should have the ability to question and improve upon current processes within the laboratory.
