Job Title: Senior Air Quality Advisor
Location: London, UK

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Air Quality Advisor to join a leading technical and advisory firm, supporting public and private sector clients across the UK and internationally. This role offers the opportunity to work on major energy projects, including power generation, carbon capture, and industrial emissions.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for air quality assessments, regulatory compliance, and environmental permitting, while also mentoring junior staff and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct air quality assessments for new and existing energy sector sites, including carbon capture and power generation projects.
  2. Analyse, quantify, and forecast emissions and discharges from industrial operations.
  3. Prepare and modify environmental permit applications, with a focus on Pollution Prevention & Control regulations.
  4. Review engineering design documents to support environmental impact studies.
  5. Identify and interpret environmental regulations and industry standards.
  6. Provide technical and compliance advice on environmental engineering matters.
  7. Contribute to HAZID/ENVID reviews and support multi-discipline engineering teams.
  8. Collaborate with clients to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  9. Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.
Requirements
  1. Degree in engineering or environmental science.
  2. Membership with the Institute of Air Quality Management.
  3. Extensive experience using ADMS or AERMOD for complex industrial sites (experience in energy-from-waste or CCS is desirable).
  4. Strong expertise in environmental permitting and working with regulators.
  5. Proven experience as lead author or approver of Air Quality Assessments.
  6. In-depth knowledge of industrial emissions legislation and environmental permitting.
  7. Understanding of pollution control techniques and mitigation strategies.
  8. Excellent time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  9. Exceptional technical writing abilities with strong attention to detail.
  10. Innovative thinker with commercial awareness.
