Locum Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer – South East - £65 per hour – Remote

Job Title: Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer
Council: South East Local Authority
Working Pattern: Full-time (35 hours per week) – Fully remote (condensed hours available)
Rate: £65 per hour
Duration: 3 months + (potential for extension)

Venn Group’s public sector legal team is working with a Local Authority in the South East, who are in urgent need of an experienced Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a progressive local authority while benefiting from a fully remote working arrangement.

Job Overview:

This South East Local Authority is seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to handle a complex caseload relating to key adult social care matters. The successful candidate will be required to provide high-level legal advice, undertake advocacy, and support the council in ensuring compliance with adult social care legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide specialist legal advice on all aspects of adult social care law, including inquests, age assessment cases, and judicial reviews
2. Represent the council in court proceedings and tribunals, undertaking advocacy where required
3. Support and advise on complex safeguarding matters, mental capacity issues, and deprivation of liberty cases
4. Manage a varied caseload and work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
5. Draft legal documents and policies in compliance with the latest legislation and best practice

Requirements:

1. Qualified solicitor, barrister, or FILEx Legal Executive with relevant experience in adult social care law
2. Strong working knowledge of key adult social care legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998
3. Experience handling inquests, judicial review matters, and age assessment cases
4. Willingness and ability to undertake advocacy
5. Ability to work independently in a fully remote role with minimal supervision

While experience in all areas is desirable, candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to develop in local government adult social care law are encouraged to apply.
