Senior Accountant
Location: Remote/Hybrid (Office in St Albans, with twice–monthly visits required)
Salary: Up to GBP65k (depending on experience)
About the Role
This role has been created due to the company’s continued expansion and the increasing workload of the current owner. They are looking for a capable professional to take on key responsibilities as the firm grows further.
As a result, this opportunity offers predominantly remote working. However, if you are interested in taking on a leadership role, including team management, additional office presence would be required.
The firm has achieved consistent year–on–year growth through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. You will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping its continued success.
Additionally, the business is planning to relocate to a more accessible, public transport–friendly area. This means candidates based in London who do not drive will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Accounts Preparation: Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Month–End and Year–End Close: Lead financial close processes, ensuring timely and precise reporting.
- Strategic Financial Guidance: Provide clients with valuable financial insights to support decision–making.
- Process Optimisation: Work with cross–functional teams to enhance processes and improve efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with regulatory changes and ensure full compliance with tax laws.
- Mentorship: Support and mentor junior team members, fostering their professional development.
Qualifications & Skills
- ACCA or ACA Qualified/Near Qualified: Strong professional credentials.
- Experience: Proven track record in an accounting firm.
- Accounting Knowledge: Deep understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Software Proficiency: Competent in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks and/or Xero is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast–paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
Remuneration & Benefits
- Salary: Up to GBP65k (depending on experience).
- Holidays: 23 days of annual leave.
- Hybrid/Remote Working: The firm supports remote and hybrid work arrangements. However, you must be available to visit the office in St Albans twice a month. If you are interested in a future leadership role, including team management, additional office hours would be required.
