About my client:

My client is a well-established and growing accountancy practice, providing high-quality financial services to a diverse range of clients. They are looking for an Accounts Assistant / Accounts Senior to join their team and support their clients with accounting, tax, and financial reporting needs.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial accounts, VAT returns, and tax returns for a variety of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. This role is ideal for someone with previous practice experience, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing year-end financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  2. Preparing and submitting VAT returns and tax computations.
  3. Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax returns.
  4. Conducting bank reconciliations, bookkeeping, and financial analysis.
  5. Supporting senior accountants and client managers with ad-hoc financial tasks.
  6. Liaising with clients to provide advice, answer queries, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  7. Assisting with payroll processing where required.
  8. Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and accounting standards.

What We're Looking For:

  1. Qualifications:
    • AAT-qualified or part-qualified ACA / ACCA (or QBE will be considered).
  2. Experience:
    • Previous experience in an accountancy practice is essential.
    • Knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and other accounting software is desirable.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
    • Good communication and client management abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
