Overview:
We are working with a well-established, growing medium-sized accountancy firm based in Kent, currently looking to recruit a proactive and experienced Senior Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified (or finalist) accountant to step into a key client-facing role with autonomy, variety, and a clear route to progression.
The Role:
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, tax returns, and VAT submissions. You’ll work closely with managers and partners and provide guidance to junior staff. This role is ideal for someone looking to make an impact and grow within a forward-thinking firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
Prepare corporation tax computations and personal tax returns
Manage VAT returns and assist with bookkeeping reviews when needed
Liaise directly with clients, advising on accounting and tax matters
Assist with onboarding of new clients and support client relationships
Support junior staff with queries and technical development
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and firm procedures
Assist managers and partners with ad hoc reporting and advisory work
Requirements:
ACA / ACCA qualified (or finalist with strong practical experience)
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice
Confident managing a varied portfolio and dealing directly with clients
Good working knowledge of FRS 102 and UK tax legislation
Experience using cloud software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
Strong communication and organisational skills
Proactive, professional, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
