Your job in a nutshell:
We are a team of dedicated accessibility professionals across the UK & Ireland, part of Atos' global accessibility practice. We provide business-to-business accessibility services to enterprise clients and actively engage with professional bodies like the Business Disability Forum and the International Association of Accessibility Professionals.
As a key member of our UK&I accessibility and digital inclusion team, you will conduct accessibility and assistive technology tests, write conformance reports, and support design and developer teams throughout product development. In your role as a senior accessibility tester, you will also mentor and guide junior team members.
What will you be doing:
- Ensure quality assurance on projects and provide constructive feedback to junior team members.
- Mentor and train new hires and junior staff to align with our service methodology and maintain consistent standards.
- Conduct independent accessibility audits for web pages, desktop applications, and mobile apps, using testing tools and assistive technologies.
- Prepare and review Accessibility Conformance Reports, outlining issues and recommendations for improvement.
- Offer accessibility support to developer teams through consultancy or by providing code snippets and suggestions.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in accessibility and related fields.
Requirements:
- 3 years of accessibility testing experience, especially manual testing experience.
- Flexibility and adaptability to shift direction quickly while maintaining organization and meeting tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaborate effectively in both in-person and virtual teams.
- Proven experience in multitasking across tactical and strategic projects.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA, with an understanding of their accessibility benefits and challenges.
- Direct experience in manual testing of websites for WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance.
- Hands-on experience with Assistive Technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers, alternative input devices).
- Familiarity with accessibility evaluation tools and methods across web and desktop platforms, and modern web development practices.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, and relevant certifications (e.g., IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist, Trusted Tester Version 5).
