Royal London has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accessibility Auditor to join our Design Team!

You will be passionate about hands-on accessibility testing and auditing of digital products to ensure they meet Royal London Group's accessibility standards. This role will involve evaluating websites, applications, and digital tools using a variety of manual and automated methods. As a Senior Accessibility Auditor, you will identify issues related to assistive technologies and provide clear, actionable reports to development teams within the business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accessibility, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with predominately technical teams.

About the role

  1. Play a key role in developing our accessibility presence and capability focusing on evaluating our digital products against our accessibility standards thereby providing critical data on high-risk areas.
  2. Conduct accessibility audits on digital products, providing detailed reports on findings and actionable recommendations for improvement.
  3. Perform accessibility testing alongside development teams using a variety of evaluation tools as well as automated and manual testing methods.
  4. Partner with UX/UI designers to ensure that accessibility is considered in the design phase, providing feedback on artifacts.
  5. Partner with developers to explain accessibility issues and offer guidance on how to resolve them while ensuring code is optimised for accessibility.
  6. Provide guidance to teams on how to effectively use assistive technologies during testing.
  7. Support the Digital Team in its endeavours to increase awareness around accessibility, playing an active part when organising and running awareness events (e.g. Global Accessibility Awareness Day GAAD).
  8. Other related tasks as required by the Design Team.

About you

  1. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain accessibility concepts, issues and solutions clearly.
  2. Proven track record of conducting accessibility audits, creating and analysing accessibility reports and providing actionable recommendations.
  3. Extensive experience in supporting the delivery of accessible cross-platform digital solutions.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify common accessibility issues, advising individuals and teams on solutions and best practices.
  5. Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and how they apply to accessibility.
  6. Strong understanding of WCAG, ARIA, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other front-end technologies.
  7. Extensive experience using assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, Talkback, VoiceOver, ZoomText).
  8. Hands-on experience with using accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, CCA, Siteimprove browser extension) and accessibility testing experience on mobile devices.
