SEND Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Manchester

Start Date: Tuesday 22nd April 2025
Location: Manchester
Pay: £100 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term position

Are you an experienced education professional with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Manchester, seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from 22nd April 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a diverse school environment that is deeply committed to inclusive education and the wellbeing of every pupil.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with the school's SENCO and teaching staff to provide personalised support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioural challenges. Support will be provided both in-class and through small group or 1:1 intervention sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND, adapting resources and strategies to meet individual needs
  2. Work collaboratively with teachers to help deliver engaging and inclusive lessons
  3. Contribute to the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
  4. Encourage student engagement, independence, and resilience
  5. Monitor pupil progress and communicate effectively with staff and parents/carers where appropriate
  6. Support positive behaviour in line with the school's policies
Requirements:
  1. Applicants must have previous experience working in a school or educational setting - applications from those without this experience will not be considered
  2. A sound understanding of a variety of special educational needs and strategies for effective support
  3. Patience, adaptability, and a calm, nurturing approach
  4. A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) is desirable
  5. An Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  6. Full-time availability from Tuesday 22nd April 2025
