SEND Lead English Teacher - SEMH, trauma
Location: Westbury, Wiltshire
Start date: ASAP
Type: Full-time, Temp-to-perm contract
Salary: £125.23 - £201.53 per day during trial (£24,420 - £39,300 perm equivalent)
Our client is an independent provider supporting learners across all key stages 1-4 and also Post-16 although the majority of their learners are in KS3/4. The school supports x32 learners and this is at least on a 1-2-1 basis with additional learners support often provided. The right person will ideally be a UK qualified teacher, with QTS/QTLS/PGCE/Cert Ed specialising in English. However, if you have a teaching qualification without QTS and have proven experience of delivering UK curriculum based lessons, we'd still love to hear from you.
All of the learners at this setting have an EHCP to define their additional needs or an EHCP in progress. Often learners can display challenging behaviour; however, staff use a trauma-informed approach and are appropriately trained in de-escalation strategies. The ideal candidate will already have this type of experience and training, although training would be provided to align with their approach. Overall, creativity, perseverance, and an empathetic approach when working with the learners is key to engaging them in education and ensuring their progression.
