Job description

• SEND Nursery Assistant (Level 2)
• 1:1 Support Complex Needs
• Full-Time Term-Time Only
• Location: School Nursery, Lambeth
• Start Date: September 2025

A welcoming and supportive nursery in Lambeth is seeking a Level 2 SEND Nursery Assistant to join their team in September. This role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a 3-year-old child with complex needs, ensuring they can fully engage in nursery life.

The Role

In this SEND Nursery Assistant role, you will be supporting a child with Cerebral Palsy and a kidney disorder, assisting with:

  1. Peg-feeding (training available if needed)
  2. Personal care
  3. Facilitating play and learning with peers

You will receive training and support from the SENCo and external specialists, working closely with the child's family to ensure their needs are met. As the role will be demanding, you will work alongside another member of staff to share responsibilities for caring for the child whilst at nursery. When not supporting your 1:1 student, you will support another child in the nursery with autism to access play-based activities. This position has been advertised early to allow preparation before the child starts nursery in September. There will also be an opportunity to work with the nursery during the end of the summer term to ease the transition.

The School

This popular term-time only nursery school in Tulse Hill is known for its welcoming and friendly staff team, led by an experienced and supportive management team. Rated outstanding by Ofsted, the nursery provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for 2 to 4-year-olds, ensuring every child receives the care and support they need to thrive.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  1. Level 2 Early Years qualification
  2. Experience supporting children with SEND/complex needs
  3. Experience with personal care
  4. Peg-feeding experience (or willingness to undertake training)
  5. Commitment to a full-time, long-term position
  6. Strong communication skills

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child's early years. If you have the skills, experience, and dedication, we'd love to hear from you!
