Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant

1 to 1 (Autism/non verbal)

Full-time

Starting 22nd April to end academic year

Wandsworth

A lovely primary school in Wandsworth is looking for a dedicated learning support assistant to join them after Easter to support a pupil with ASD.

The role

In this role, you will be working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil in year 2 with autism and communication needs. Within the classroom, the child requires support to focus on tasks and communicate with others. Your role will include supporting the child during carpet sessions in learning activities in the class as well as some individual intervention sessions outside the classroom. Interventions will be based on communication, language and literacy, and social skills.

The school is looking for a teaching assistant who is confident to work with a young child with autism. The child can display some challenging behaviour and at times will leave the classroom, so requires a teaching assistant who is fit and active. You should have a calm and consistent approach and be able to commit to a full-time position for the rest of the academic year.
