SEN Teaching Assistant - Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist

Location: East Horsley, Surrey

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £95 - £110 per day

Are you an aspiring Speech and Language Therapist looking to gain valuable experience in an educational setting? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in East Horsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work directly with children who have special educational needs (SEN) while pursuing your career aspirations in speech and language therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide tailored support to children with SEN, particularly those with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
2. Assist in implementing speech and language therapy programs under the supervision of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist (SLT).
3. Support classroom teachers in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
4. Help students develop their communication skills through focused interventions and activities.
5. Track progress and provide feedback to the teaching team and therapists to ensure continued support for the students.
6. Foster a caring and encouraging environment for students, building trust and confidence.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

1. A keen interest in pursuing a career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
2. Previous experience working with children, especially those with SEN, is desirable but not essential.
3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage with children in a positive and supportive way.
5. Team player with the ability to adapt to the unique needs of each child.
6. Eagerness to learn and grow professionally in the field of SEN and speech and language therapy.

Desirable:

1. A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
2. Understanding of SEN and speech and language development is a plus.
