SEN teaching assistant

Smile Education is collaborating with a vibrant primary school in Tamworth to find a dedicated EYFS SEN TA to join their team, starting as of April 2025. If you’re passionate about supporting students and maintaining an engaging classroom environment, we encourage you to get in touch.

As an early years SEN TA, your responsibilities will include maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment for students. You will facilitate the learning process and ensure students’ engagement in the absence of the regular teacher. Your adaptability to support diverse needs and abilities of students is critical. You will be working alongside a staff body who are fun, dedicated, hardworking and professional, who will work together to support you in reaching your potential. This particular classroom is extremely busy so the ideal candidates will be required to get stuck in from day one. All the students within the class are sensory and non verbal.

The successful candidate must have:

• A bachelor’s degree in education, a related field, or relevant experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience working with SEN children.
• A genuine passion for supporting students and motivating them to excel.
• Experience working with SEND.

• Supporting students on a one to one basis.
• Leading small group activities.
• Working as part of a larger team to ensure a high standard of education.
• Completing observations.
• Behaviour management.
