SEN Teaching Assistant - Full Time - Secondary School in Southampton
Start Date: After Easter 2025
Permanent Position Following Successful Probation

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? If so, GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs, helping them access learning and thrive both academically and personally. You will work closely with teachers and the SEN team, providing tailored support to meet individual learning goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN
  2. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and differentiated learning strategies
  3. Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment, promoting students' confidence and independence
  4. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support student progress
  5. Assist with classroom management and create a positive learning atmosphere
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  1. Have previous experience supporting students with SEN, ideally in a school setting
  2. Be empathetic, patient, and committed to making a positive impact on students' lives
  3. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Hold relevant qualifications or have transferable experience from the care sector, such as working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs
  5. Be adaptable and proactive in responding to the diverse needs of students
