Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you looking to make a real impact on the lives of your students?

Are you motivated by supporting and helping children with additional needs?

This role is ideal if you have career aspirations in the field of teaching, psychology, criminology, sociology, social work, probation services, care, or if you simply love working with children.

A passionate and dedicated school in Haywards Heath is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant to support the needs of students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, ASD, ADHD, and associated learning difficulties. This school supports and teaches pupils aged 6-13 years.

The majority of pupils that move to this school have had previous behavioural challenges, but by providing the right environment and support, every child can flourish. They do not aim to replicate a mainstream school approach; rather, they consider what approaches the particular pupils need to achieve their full potential.

Benefits of working as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  1. Comprehensive Training and Development.
  2. Generous Holiday Allowance; work in term time only.
  3. Career Progression for psychology, teaching, criminology, sociology, and care.
  4. Opportunity for permanent roles.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant include:

  1. Providing one-on-one support to students.
  2. Working alongside teachers and other support staff.
  3. Creating a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere and environment.
  4. Encouraging positive social interactions and emotional regulation.

Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant include:

  1. Experience and desire to work with children with special educational needs.
  2. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  3. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  4. Proactive approach.
