SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Coventry (CV1 2SF)
Pay: £444.24-£467.62 (Weekly Take Home after Tax and NI)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: 28th April 2025

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join the Pathways Provision at a welcoming and supportive school in Coventry. This provision caters to Reception and Key Stage 1 children (ages 4-6) with complex needs. You will work alongside a class teacher and a team of skilled teaching assistants to provide tailored support that meets each child's unique learning and developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support children with sensory processing disorders, ASD, and non-verbal communication needs.
  2. Assist the class teacher in delivering structured learning activities.
  3. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) to support children's progress.
  4. Use a range of communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton, and visual aids.
  5. Create a safe, engaging, and sensory-friendly learning environment.
  6. Work closely with the wider team, including therapists and SENCOs, to meet pupils' needs.
  7. Provide personal care support where necessary.
Candidate Requirements
  1. Previous experience working with SEN children, particularly those with sensory needs, ASD, and non-verbal communication challenges.
  2. A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach.
  3. Understanding of communication tools such as PECS or Makaton (desirable but not essential).
  4. Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  5. A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
