Job description

Are you an innovative SEN Teacher committed to improving the lives of pupils and young people? We are looking for a SEN Teacher for our New Options School - Riseley Green School in Riseley, Berkshire. The school will have capacity for 60 pupils ages 4-16 years old and is due to open May 2025. Our New Options School will cater for pupils who have ASC and Complex Needs.

Location: Riseley Green School, Reading, RG7 1QF

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience (not pro rata)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Term Time only

Contract: Permanent

Eligibility: UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

Through your knowledge and passion, you will have a real impact on the lives of pupils and young people. As an SEN Teacher, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupils’ achievement and ability to develop.

For over 16 years, Options Autism has provided care and education to pupils, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults. About the role
  1. To secure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher.
  2. To teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculums. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area.
  3. In consultation with the Headteacher, undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum.
  4. To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development, and well-being of all students.
General Responsibilities
  1. Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people.
  2. Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of The Wenlock School.
  3. Take on specific tasks related to the day-to-day administration and organisation of the school.
  4. Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually then negotiated and agreed within the performance management cycle and school improvement process.
  5. Take on any additional responsibilities, which might from time to time be determined.
