Job description

Job Title: SEN Teacher

Location: Birmingham
Salary: MPS/UPS for qualified teachers
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: Easter 2025

The Role:
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and support to students with a range of SEN, including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral difficulties. You will work collaboratively with other professionals, such as teaching assistants, therapists, and SEN coordinators, to create tailored learning plans that promote the academic, social, and emotional development of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of each student.
  2. Assess and monitor the progress of students, providing regular feedback to parents and carers.
  3. Develop and implement personalised education plans (IEPs) for students.
  4. Provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where all students feel valued.
  5. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the holistic development of students.
  6. Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  7. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

The Ideal Candidate:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (not essential for all posts).
  2. Experience working with students with SEN, ideally within an SEN school or similar setting.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of a variety of SEN needs and appropriate strategies for support.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.
  6. A commitment to creating an inclusive environment where all students can thrive.
