SEN Part Time Teacher - Primary - Farnborough - Education and Training

Job Type: Long term agency contract/Temp-to-perm: £150-£220 per day

The School: The school is based in Farnborough, Surrey and provides support for children aged 5-11 years who have a range of learning and communication needs associated with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specific needs in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The pupils at the school can struggle to form strong, healthy relationships and can present high levels of anxiety and challenging behaviour.

The school provides a unique, specialist environment that closely fits the needs and challenges that the students face. Most of the students will go on to achieve GCSE qualifications or the equivalent, so at this stage of their education, it is vitally important that they establish sound understanding of key subjects such as maths and English. Your job will be to support this journey to help them access further education or training.

Responsibilities:
  1. To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
  2. To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  3. To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  4. To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
  5. To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
  6. To maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.
Summary:
  1. Salary: SEN Part Time Teacher- MPS/UPS + SEN allowance
  2. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training
  3. Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profile
  4. Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  5. Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
  6. A positive, proactive attitude with a genuine desire to work with students that have additional learning and behavioural needs.
