Qualifications

Semi-Senior Practice Accountant

Milton Keynes, MK9 - Office based only
* Full time, permanent (9am - 5:30pm)
* £32,000 - £36,000 per annum

The Role

We are expanding and looking for a talented Semi-Senior Practice Accountant to play a key role in delivering excellent service to our clients while supporting and mentoring junior team members. This is a varied and rewarding role in a vibrant practice where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare small business accounts, statutory accounts, VAT returns, and CIS returns
  2. Manage the Self-Assessment tax return process and support MTD ITSA implementation
  3. Handle corporation tax calculations, R&D claims, and capital allowances
  4. Review bookkeeping, reconcile bank statements, and code entries
  5. Assist clients in adopting cloud accounting software
  6. Prepare and present management accounts with insights and analysis
  7. Provide tax efficiency and long-term business planning advice
  8. Support process improvements across the practice
  9. Mentor and review work of junior team members
  10. Drive digital transformation and contribute to strategic projects

The Ideal Candidate:

We're looking for someone ambitious, client-focused, and a strong team player with a desire to develop within a growing firm.

  1. AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
  2. 2+ years' experience in an accountancy practice
  3. Proficient in VAT, CIS, Income Tax, Corporation Tax, and bookkeeping
  4. Experience reviewing and mentoring junior team members
  5. Willing to travel occasionally for meetings and training (Full UK driving licence required)
  6. Energetic, empathetic, and passionate about client success
