If so, GSL Education can help. GSL Education are actively recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants on a supply basis to work within a SEMH Provision located in North Manchester, starting as soon as possible.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
  1. Provide tailored support and interventions to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  2. Provide 1:1 support for children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and associated behavioural needs.
  3. Implement strategies to support positive behaviour management and de-escalate challenging situations.
  4. Assist students with SEMH needs in accessing the curriculum and completing academic tasks.
  5. Work closely with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other relevant staff to coordinate support and interventions for students.
  6. Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with SEMH needs.
SEMH Teaching Assistant Requirements:
  1. Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  2. Experience working with students with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting for at least 6 months. Placements through University or volunteering experiences will be accepted.
  3. Understanding of SEMH-related challenges and appropriate strategies for intervention and support.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  5. Be able to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies, such as counsellors and mental health professionals.
  6. An Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
