Job description

1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant in SEMH Provision, with experience in managing challenging behaviour

Location: Chelmsford

Salary: £89.50 - £100 Per day

Job Duties:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with Special Educational Needs and Social emotional mental health needs in a specialist provision.
  • Implement individualised education plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively and de-escalate situations when necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the holistic development of students.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practise and safeguarding procedures.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations.
Working Conditions:
  • Work primarily within a school setting, 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday-Friday.
  • Full-time hours with occasional flexibility required.
  • Regular interaction with students, teachers, and other educational professionals.
