ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE
Experts of operations process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set in-stock, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food-safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.

As a General Merchandise Expert, you will have the opportunity to:

• Gain knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store.
• Experience retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, and process efficiency and improvement.
• Execute daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

• Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests.
• Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact.
• Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs.
• Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store.
• Thank the guest genuinely and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
• Own select GM areas to ensure sales floor is zoned, in-stock, and accurately signed for guests.
• Acknowledge guests while completing workload with minimal disruption.
• Ensure regular and promotional signing is set accurately for GM categories.
• Execute revisions, sales plans, and planograms for all GM categories.
• Assist non-GM areas of the store with transition sets and In-Store Marketing (ISM).
• Conduct weekly price change workload for all GM categories.
• Complete Radio Frequency ID (RFID) scans in GM areas.
• Accurately execute all backroom fills and process inbound deliveries.
• Maintain backroom organization and follow equipment guidelines.
• Work in a safe manner at all times, identifying and correcting hazards.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and order pick up.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.
