Job Description

The Role

At Securitas, a Security Officer is at the forefront of providing professional security services for our client. Duties range from patrol to surveillance to bag checks to liaising with our client and more.

Reporting to the onsite Supervisor, you will be based on a large site for our international, defence sector client. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of security standards to the highest levels, being proactive in the undertaking of standard operating procedures.

In addition, your role as a Security Officer will include:

• Reporting to the onsite Supervisor to ensure your duties are being carried out in accordance with site and business need
• Playing a vital security role in protecting critical information and assets for our defence sector client
• Protecting company assets of our client
• Carrying out patrols across a large facility, walking perimeters both internally and externally
• Remaining alert and vigilant to detect and deter any suspicious or threatening activity and retaining full control until the authorities arrive
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are always followed
• Recording and reporting all faults, health, and safety hazards
• Operating radios other physical security equipment used on site
• Carrying out initial investigations and report both verbally and in writing on incidents, suspicious activities, objects, and vehicles
• Retaining full control of any threatening behaviour until the arrival of the police or any other external agency

Please note, this role will cover a “3 on, 3 off” shift pattern covering both days and nights.

• 3 day shifts working 6am to 6pm followed by 3 days off
• 3 night shifts working 6pm to 6am followed by 3 days off

Essential Skills

What we need from you to become a Security Officer at Securitas

• Hold a current, valid SIA licence or be willing to obtain one through Securitas
• Due to National Security requirements of our client, you must have held British nationality for the last five years as a minimum
• Provide valid proof of right to work in the UK and pass security clearance
• Be able to work well individually and as part of a team
• Be prepared to work outside in all 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
• Be able to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats
• Be able to make timely and informed decisions which you can justify
• Be reasonably fit, as walking and foot patrols are required
• A flexible and responsive approach to balance changing needs, requirements, and urgencies
• A commitment and understanding of delivering high levels of customer services
