Job description

Role Summary:

Working within the fresh produce sector, you will provide strong leadership by motivating and supporting a team of Multi-Skilled Operatives (MSO's) to achieve outstanding service levels, delivering productivity targets whilst prioritising and maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety in a dynamic fast paced environment.

Due to the location of our client, you will need to have your own transport.

You will work a 4 on 2 off rota after completion of training. This role will predominantly be front shift hours, but you will also work a 3-month period on back shift on a rota basis.

Due to the 4 on 2 off rota, in annual working hours this leaves a deficit, which means there are 16 additional shifts in a year that will need to be filled to complete the contractual requirements. These will be used to cover absence and holiday throughout the year. You will be given notice for these shifts and will be given a choice of dates.

A day in the life……

“Each day presents new challenges for a Section Leader. You will communicate effectively with your team of Multi Skilled Operatives, as well as other supporting functions, such as the Transport team, and internal customers. You'll give direct instructions for daily tasks; loading, unloading and moving pallets, as well as reviewing KPIs, monthly feedback meetings with your team, and communicating across the business about issues impacting internal and external customers. When the day starts, so does your attention to safety, encouraging, supporting and challenging behaviours to deliver a safe working environment. A positive approach to a fast-moving operation is essential, with the ability to follow SOP's, problem solve and identify risks and costs to the business. You'll drive productivity, identify areas for improvement and encouraging your team to do the same.”

Key responsibilities:

  1. Coaching and developing the team to consistently meet performance standards.
  2. Planning work patterns in conjunction with the Distribution Shift Manager.
  3. Working collaboratively across departments, coordinating activity to meet daily objectives.
  4. Regularly engaging with MSOs to ensure understanding of the role and personal contribution to the continued success of the business.
  5. Deputising for the Distribution Shift Manager as and when required.

Skills and Experience:

  1. Ideally a minimum of one year's experience in a FMCG/fresh produce/warehouse supervisory role.
  2. Working knowledge of food production/handling procedures and processes.
  3. Demonstrable leadership, interpersonal, communication and management skills.
  4. Competent in problem solving, team building and planning.
  5. A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Benefits:

  1. 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
  2. Private medical insurance
  3. Company pension
